Parents, do you know what to watch for when it comes to dehydration?

Babies and young children are at higher risk for dehydration, often due to fever, vomiting and diarrhea.

Signs of dehydration in children can look like:
🔹 Urinating less frequently (for children 0 to 4 months this is less than 6 wet diapers in a day, for children older than 4 months this is less than 3 wet diapers or urinations in a day) or have dark urine
🔹 Producing fewer tears when crying
🔹 Developing a dry or sticky mouth
🔹 A sunken soft spot (in infants)
🔹 Playing less than usual

If you notice that your child has any of the above, please call their healthcare provider.

Stay tuned for a future post on rehydration and fluid goals!
